Do I need to phone call Comcast and give them my router's MAC accost?

Got new service. And of grade they only connect i computer, via Ethernet. The router's up to me. Dude said the router should "see the cable modem via DHCP" but ah...not and so much.

I have gear up folks with Comcast a number of times. In each example the customer owned router is ready to enquire for dhcp from Comcast. (Unless it is a business client with a static IP.) In that location should be no MAC filtering from Comcast.
Maybe a problem with the cable modem.
Make certain you ability off/on the cablevision modem when you modify betwixt the computer and the router.
The only MAC accost that Comcast needs to know is the MAC address of the cable modem, they don't need to know anything virtually routers or computers or any other device continued to your network.
Simply connect the output of the cable modem to the WAN port of the router, fix the router to become it's IP via DHCP and you should be all prepare. Power Off/On the cablevision Modem and Router if they seem to be confused.

Cheers much, that was it. Probably wouldn't take killed the installer to tell me all of that, but information technology was very clear he'd been through Training where he'd exist Specifically Instructed To Not Bear on Anything Except The Modem.
I literally saw his hands fly up in the air reflexively, when I asked him about the router (not that I wanted him to connect information technology.)

Think that cure. It needs to be applied whenever a change is made in what is connected after the modem. A modem will recognize one item simply, be it computer or router. To alter that device to another and accept the new one piece of work, you have to brand the modem "forget" by unplugging power.

and after a power failure, restart modem beginning, and then router.

A long time ago - 10 years - you lot had to give your ISP the MAC address of the device you wanted IP for.
